(Guelph, ON) – Eight players have been named for the Hockey Canada U17 and U18 Program of Excellence National team camp which will take place in Calgary, Alberta in July 23-August 2, 2017.
For the Under-18 national camp, Nathan Dunkley (Campbellford, Ontario) was a 1st round selection of the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL in 2016. The 5’11 , 185 pound forward scored 6 goals and 25 assists in his rookie season and played for Team Canada’s U17 team last fall.
Anderson Macdonald (Saint John, New Brunswick) was a 1st round selection of the Sherbrooke Phoenix of the QMJHL in 2016. The 6’2, 195 pound forward scored 29 goals and 12 assists in his rookie season and was named a finalist for QMJHL Offensive Rookie of the Year after playing for Team Canada’s U17 team last fall.
Noah Dobson (Summerside, PEI) was a 1st round selection of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL in 2016 and the 6’2 defenceman had 7 goals and 19 assists with a rookie league-best +34 rating. He also played for Team Canada’s U17 team last fall.
The Ivan Hlinka Under-18 Championships will take place August 2017 in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
For the Under-17 national camp, 6’3 defenceman Jaxon Bellamy (Saint John, New Brunswick) was a 1st round selection of the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL, as well forward Liam Keeler (Edmonton, Alberta) was a 1st round selection of the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL, and defenceman Jake Lee (Edmonton, Alberta) was a 1st round selection of the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL. Big and mobile defenceman Mark Woolley (St Thomas, Ontario) was selected by the Guelph Storm of the OHL in the 3rd round as well as another college-bound player were invited to the camp.
The World Under-17 Championships will take place October 2017 in Fort St John, BC.
