(Guelph, ON) – Five players have been rated for the upcoming 2017 NHL Draft in Chicago on June 23-24, 2017 based on the most recent NHL Central Scouting Rankings and the TSN Rankings compiled by Craig Button.
Samuel Bucek, a late-1998 born forward from Nitra, Slovakia is rated 97th of North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting as well as 72nd overall by TSN, after a strong season with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL, which has only been hampered by a knee injury that prevented him from playing at the World Juniors in December. The 6’2, 210 pound left winger has 8 goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 29 games.
Dylan Plouffe, a 1999 born defenceman from Edmonton, Alberta, is rated 110th of North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting during a season which he has 4 goals and 12 assists for 16 points in 41 games for the Vancouver Giants of the WHL. The 6’0, 185 pound defenceman will be counted on for heavy minutes in the second half of the season for the rebuilding club.
Kevin Hancock, a 1998 forward from Toronto, Ontario is rated 148th of North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting during a season which he has 19 goals and 31 assists for 50 points in 40 games with the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL. The 5’11 forward is playing on the first line and will be counted on heavily for a club currently on a twelve-game winning streak.
Skyler Mckenzie, a 1998 forward from Edmonton, Alberta is rated 75th overall on the TSN Rankings during a season which he has registered 29 goals and 22 assists for 51 points in 43 games with the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL. The 5’8 mobile and gritty forward has been counted on the Winterhawks top line this year as they make a push to keep their playoff streak alive in 2017.
