(Guelph, ON) – Four European players were drafted into the CHL Import Draft held today.
Stephane Patry (Geneva, Switzerland) was a 5’10 skilled forward from Geneva of the Swiss Jr league who was selected in the 1st round by the Erie Otters of the OHL. The 2000-born Patry played as an underage for Switzerland at the World Under 18 World Championships held in Slovakia in April.
Martin Fasko Rudas (Banska Brystica, Slovakia) is a 6’0 forward who played for the Slovak National Team program and was the captain of the Under-17 national team. The 2000-born player was selected in the 1st round by the Everett Silvertips of the WHL.
Mick Kohler (Cologne, Germany) is a big powerful 1998 forward with high skill level who was selected by the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL following a successful season with Koln of the German Jr and Dresden of the DEL2. The 6’3 forward had 60 points in 31 games with the juniors.
Yannik Valenti (Mannheim, Germany) is a 5’10 speedy 2000-born forward from Mannheim who has played as an underage on the German U-18 national team. The son of longtime professional Sven Valenti, Yannik was drafted by the Vancouver Giants of the WHL in the 2nd round but is not expected to join the club until the 2018-19 season.
