(Guelph, ON) — Goaltenders Mads Sogaard and Hunter Jones were rated as the 2nd and 3rd best goalies respectively eligible for the 2019 NHL Draft in the most recently released NHL Central Scouting rankings. The duo were among 7 North American players and 4 European players on the final draft list.
Sogaard, who is from Aalborg, Denmark, starred for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League, where he posted a stellar .921 save percentage and 2.64 goals against average in 37 games. The 6’7 goaltender represented Denmark at the World Under 18 and World Junior Championships the past two seasons.
Jones, who is from Brantford, Ontario, led the Peterborough Petes back to the Ontario Hockey League playoffs after a one year absence, posting a .902 save percentage and 3.31 goals against average in 57 games. The 6’4 goaltender previously represented Canada at the World Under 17 Champonships and the World Junior A Challenge.
