Josi leads Olympians in Sochi

(Sochi, RUS) — Roman Josi, a defenceman with the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League leads a contingent of players representing Switzerland at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia starting on February 7-21, 2014.

Josi, who signed a seven-year contract with the Predators last spring, has 8 goals and 17 assists in 49 games with the Predators this season from the blue line.

Joining Josi in Russia is forward Luca Cunti, the leading scorer for the Zurich Lions of the Swiss A League. Cunti, who starred for the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL before being drafted into the 3rd round of the 2007 NHL Draft, has scored 18 goals and 24 assists in 43 games this season.

Geneva forwards Denis Hollenstein (10 goals, 23 assists in 37 games) and Kevin Romy (10 goals, 28 assists in 45 games) as well as Kloten forward Morris Trachsler (8 goals, 6 assists in 40 games) will play for the national team in Sochi as well. Hollenstein previously played for the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League while Romy was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 4th round of the 2003 NHL Draft.

Switzerland opens up against Latvia on Wednesday February 12.
