(Guelph, ON) — Tom Kuhnhackl and Skyler Mckenzie both signed contracts on the third day of July.
The 25-year old Kuhnhackl (Landshut, Germany) was an unrestricted free-agent after winning two Stanley Cup titles with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The penalty killing specialist signed a one-year, $700,000 contract with the New York Islanders for the 2018-19 season. Kuhnhackl had previously been drafted by the Penguins in the 4th round of the 2010 NHL Draft.
The 20-year old McKenzie (Edmonton, Alberta) scored 47 goals last season for the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL. He signed a three-year entry level NHL contract with the Winnipeg Jets starting in the 2018-19 season until the 2020-21 season. Mckenzie was drafted by the Jets in the 7th round of the 2017 NHL Draft.
