Four players named to Gretzky / Ivan Hlinka U18 Cup

(Guelph, ON) – Four players have been named to represent their respective countries at the Gretzky / Ivan Hlinka U18 in Calgary, Alberta from August 5 to 10, 2018.

Defenceman Oliver Turan (Poprad, Slovakia), defenseman Sascha Huber (Rickenbach, Switzerland) and  defenseman Silvan Landolt (Zurich, Switzerland and an NCAA-eligible player will be taking part in the week-long U18 event.

Turan, 18, was recently selected (1st round, 40th overall) by the QMJHL Drummondville Voltigeurs in the 2018 CHL Import Draft.   The 6-5, 185 lbs. blueliner split the 2017-18 season between the Brookings Blizzard (NAHL) and Poprad of the Slovakian Jr. League.  He picked up a total 2 goals and 7 assists during 49 regular season games between the two clubs.

Huber, 17, is a 6-2, 165 lbs. defenseman from the ZSC Lions recorded 1 goal and 2 assists in 29 regular season games in the Swiss Elite Novizen league in 2017-18.

Landolt, 18, played the 2017-18 season as a teammate with Huber on the ZSC Lions.  The 6-2, 175 lbs. blueliner recorded 6 goals and 7 assists in just 15 games.

One other player who retains collegiate eligibility was as well.
