Four players named to World Under-17 Hockey Challenge

Guelph, ON – Four M&T clients have been named to participate in the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Saint John, NB from November 3-10th.

Winger Matt Maggio (Tecumseh, ON) and goaltender Will Cranley (Keene, ON), both of the Ottawa 67’s, centreman Logan Morrison (Guelph, ON) of the Hamilton Bulldogs and Elliot Ekmark (Linkoping, Sweden) of Linkoping HC J18 will participate.

Maggio was the 67’s 5th round selection in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection out of the Sun County Panthers of the Alliance Minor Hockey League.

Cranley was the 67’s 2nd round selection in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection from the Peterborough Minor Petes of the Eastern AAA League.

Morrison was the Bulldogs’ 1st round selection in 2018 from the Guelph Gryphons of the South Central AAA League.  Due to a shoulder injury suffered while playing with the Bulldogs, Morrison will not participate in the tournament.

Ekmark is a 5-9, 150 lbs. defenseman who has 16 points in 15 league games with Linkoping U18.

The annual week-long tournament brings together three teams of 16-year old players from across Canada as well as entries from the United States, Czech Republic, Russia, Finland and Sweden.
