Three players named to Team Canada for Canada-Russia series

Guelph, ON – Three M&T clients have been named to participate for Team Canada in the CIBC Canada-Russia series.

Defenseman Noah Dobson (Summerside, PEI) and goaltenders Hunter Jones (Brantford, ON) and Matt Welsh (Halifax, NS) were selected to participate.

Dobson, a 6-3, 190 lbs. blueliner has 20 points in 21 QMJHL games with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.  The PEI native was selected 12th overall at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and signed an entry-level contract with the New York Islanders earlier this year.

Jones, a 6-4, 195 lbs. goaltender is currently rated the #2 goalie in North America by NHL Central Scouting for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.  He is having a solid season with the OHL’s Peterborough Petes with a 2.88 GAA and a .917 save percentage.

Welsh, a 5-11, 180lbs. tender for the Charlottetown Islanders of the QMJHL, has played in 18 games this season with a 3.49 GAA.  He is eligible for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

Canada-Russia series games will be played November 5 & 6 (vs WHL); November 8 & 12, (vs. OHL) and November 13 & 15th (vs. QMJHL).
