(Linkoping, SWE) -- Maloney & Thompson Sports Management would like to express our gratitude to Mike Helber for six years of collaboration as our player agent representative in Sweden and wish him the best of luck with his new role as strategic sports director for the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation.
Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he was recently inducted into the local Hall of Fame, Mike originally came to Sweden following a four-year stint at the University of Michigan under legendary coach Red Berenson. After being drafted into the NHL by the Winnipeg Jets, Mike started his professional career in Linkoping in 1992, Sweden, where he has remained ever since. Following a ten year playing career where he helped the Linkoping enter into the SHL (formerly Eliteserien) Mike worked for twelve seasons as the President of Linkoping Hockey Club. His number was later retired into the rafters at the Saab Arena for his contributions to hockey in Linkoping.
After a few years as a well-respected television broadcaster for Swedish professional games on C-More, Mike became licensed to represent players as an agent in Sweden and joined Maloney & Thompson Sports Management in 2018. Since that time, Mike has represented several players who have been drafted into the National Hockey League, including an NCAA champion, Stanley Cup Champion and IIHF World Championship goal medalists.
After being a player, executive, broadcaster, and agent, Mike now moves on to the next phase of his career with the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation and we wish him the best of luck.
