(Guelph, ON) -- Five clients were selected in the 2022 CHL Import Draft held on July 1st.
The OHL's Oshawa Generals used the 23rd overall pick to select 17-year old forward Kimo Gruber (Bulach, SUI) from the Kloten U20's.
Gruber is 6-1, 194lbs. and recorded 18 points in 16 games with Kloten this past season. He also scored 4 goals and 1 assist for the Swiss U17 team in international play.
With the 38th selection, the OHL's Mississauga Steelheads chose Swiss goalie Alessio Beglieri (Biel-Bienne, SUI).
The 5.11, 165 lb. tender sported a 2.13 goals against average in 21 games with the Biel-Bienne U20 team this past season. He also saw action in 10 playoff games with a 3.08 mark.
The OHL's Sarnia Sting selected Austrian defenseman David Reinbacher (Hohenems, AUT) with the 74th choice from the Kloten U20's.
Reinbacher is a 6-2, 187 lb. blueliner who spent time between playing U20 and Swiss pro this season. He recorded 9-13-22 points in 23 games with the U18s and had 1 goal and 10 assists in 27 games in the Swiss pro league.
David also led his Kloten professional team to a promotion from the Swiss B League to the Swiss A National League this season.
With the 86th selection, the OHL's Kitchener Rangers selected defenseman Mattias Hävelid (Taby, SWE) from Linkoping HC.
The 5-10, 172 lb. blueliner is a highly rated prospect for the upcoming 2022 NHL Entry Draft after a solid season with both Linkoping U20 and Men's pro team (SHL).
He had 10 goals and 9 assists in 29 regular season U18 games and then added 5-5-10 in 8 playoff games. Hävelid also saw action in 23 games with Linkoping's senior mens team.
Mattias led his Linkoping J20 to the league championship and the Swedish U18 national team to a World Championship this spring.
With the 98th selection, the OHL's Mississauga Steelheads chose forward Valdemar Hull (Fribourg, SUI) from the Gotteron U17 team of the Swiss League.
Hull is a 6-2, 190 lb. forward who recorded 11 goals and 12 assists splitting his time between the Gotteron U17 and U20 teams this past season.
