(Guelph, ON) -- Four Maloney & Thompson clients were selected in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft held over the weekend.
Defensemen Ben Roger (Brighton, ON), Artem Guryev (Moscow, Russia), Oscar Plandowski (Halifax, NS) and centreman Ben Boyd (Dartmouth, NS) were selected during the two day process.
Roger, 18, was chosen in the 2nd round (49th overall) by the Ottawa Senators. The 6.04, 170 lb. blueliner is a member of the London Knights and was their 4th round selection in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection out of the Quinte Red Devils program.
Guryev, 18, was selected in the 5th round (135th overall) by the San Jose Sharks. The 6.03, 198 lb. blueliner is a member of the Peterborough Petes. He split time in his rookie OHL season between the Lindsay Muskies of the OJHL and the OHL club. He was the Petes' 2nd round choice (22nd overall) in 2019 out of the Toronto Marlboros program.
Plandowski, 18, was the 155th pick overall in the 5th round by the Detroit Red Wings. The right-shooting defenseman spent the past season with the Charlottetown Islanders of the QMJHL. He picked up 5 goals and 12 assists in 39 games last winter. He was the Islanders' 1st round choice in the QMJHL Entry Draft in 2018.
Boyd, 18, was selected in 6th round (165th overall) after playing 35 games with the Charlottetown Islanders. He scored 7 goals and added 3 assists this past season in 35 QMJHL games. He was a 5th round selection of Charlottetown in the 2019 QMJHL Entry Draft.
