(Basel, SUI) - Defenseman Andrew Gibson (Lasalle, ON) recorded two assists, one on the game winning goal in overtime, to help lead Canada to a 4-3 win over Slovakia in the Bronze Medal game on Sunday.
Gibson, a 6.03, 196 lb. blueliner, has 7 goals and 14 assists in 45 OHL games this season with the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds. He is currently participating with the Canadian U18 team at the IIHF Championships in Switzerland.
Gibson was the top-scoring 16-year old CJHL defenseman in 2021-22 with with the Soo Thunderbirds of the NOJHL. He recorded 21 goals and 30 assists for 51 points.
He is currently rated 31st among North American Skaters for the 2023 NHL Entry Draft to be held June 28-29 in Nashville, TN.
