(Guelph, ON) - Spencer Gill (Baie Verte, NB) has been selected to participate in the annual Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects game set for in Moncton, New Brunswick, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
Gill is a 6-4, 185 lbs right-shot defenseman is currently in his sophomore season with the Rimouski Ocean of the Quebec Maritime Hockey League. He has 5 goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 2 games. He was the Oceanics' 1st round selection (5th overall) in the 2022 QMJHL Entry Draft out of the Moncton Flyers U18 program.
Slated for January 24 at the Avenir Centre, the 2024 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game showcases the top 40 CHL players who are eligible for the 2024 NHL Draft from across the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League. The 40 players were identified via a survey conducted with the NHL’s 32 teams.
37 of the 40 CHL players who competed at the 2023 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Langley, B.C., were among those selected at the 2023 NHL Draft last June, a list that included first-overall pick Connor Bedard (Chicago Blackhawks/Regina Pats) and seven other CHL skaters chosen by NHL teams in the first round.
The 2024 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will mark the 28th edition of this showcase and it will represent the first time that this event has ever taken place in the province of New Brunswick.
