(Windsor, ON) -- Matthew Maggio (Tecumseh, ON) of the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL, netted five goals last night versus the Erie Otters to tie the Spitfires franchise record for most goals in a game.
It was a landmark night for the Islanders prospect who also reached the 150-point mark in his OHL career. His 23 goals puts him in a tie for the league-lead.
Maggio's five goals tied him with Daniel D’Amico (2020), Paul Gagne (1979) and Gerry Leroux (1977) as one of four players in Spits franchise history to score five goals in a game.
The 6.00, 185 lbs. winger was the Islanders 5th round pick (142nd overall) in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft last summer.
Originally he was a 5th round selection of the Ottawa 67's in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection out of the Sun County Panthers of the Pavilion League (Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario).
