Kitchener, ON -- North Bay Battalion defenseman Ty Nelson (Toronto, ON) has been selected to participate in the upcoming Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Top Prospects game in Kitchener, ON on March 23rd.
The 5.10, 197 lb. blueliner was the first overall pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection and is currently in his rookie season with the Battalion. He received the Jack Ferguson Award for being selected 1st overall.
Nelson has an impressive 6 goals and 29 assists for 35 points in just 46 games to date for North Bay.
He currently is sixth overall among OHL Defensemen scoring and leads all rookie blueliners.
Nelson played his minor hockey in the Greater Toronto Hockey League with the Toronto Marlboros, Don Mills Flyer and Toronto Jr. Canadiens.
He is currently rated as the 19th overall prospect in North America and 5th overall among defensemen.
The NHL Entry Draft is currently scheduled for July 7-8th in Montreal, PQ.
